Whimbrel(Numenius phaeopus)

This beautiful bird turned up for a dip and preen just as I was about to leave, I was so lucky to get a Curlew in the background(see extra)as I always wondered how much bigger the more common and widespread Curlew is than the Whimbrel. The Curlew was not impressed about the arrival of this bird and followed it around, which is how I got the lucky shot. I'm sure there should be a caption for the extra shot, the Whimbrel looks most put out by the immense size difference in the beak department!
