Twilight River

It is late in the evening,
And the eternal painter has dipped,
His neon paint brushes of city lights
Into the dark, mystifying depths of the river.

Pleasantly distorted zigzags
Of blue and golden columns,
Gently penetrate the ruffling waves,
And titillate the waters into a sensual shiver.

Grab my hand and let us dive,
Dipping into the wet colours of the watery night,
Fear not the dark and deep, my friend,
For in the abyss of life’s river waits a world so bright.

The lights play on the surface, and we lunge deeper,
enjoying the vigour of our strife,
Holding our breath, swimming hand-in-hand,
towards this miracle called life.
