Saying Goodbye

We were back to Mary's village today to finish off some jobs on her bungalow and to clear out the old cooker and washing machine from the home she has lived in for sixty three years.  It was also the home that Tony was brought up in.  Sadly elder brother Mick died four years ago and since then Mary has lived here alone.  It was a good, well built, roomy council house and so it has been a difficult decision for her to down-size, but one which she has been thinking about for about three years now.  On a positive note she is moving just a short distance and will be surrounded by friends.

So today we tidied the empty house, put out the bulky items for collection and then retired to the bungalow for me to finish some gloss in the bathroom and Tony to put up a curtain pole and do several other bits and pieces.  It's all a bit new and unfamiliar for Mary but we are sure that now she is making her new house into her home, she will soon feel 'at home' there.

As for us, we are going to have a quiet long weekend before we are back to Mary's on Monday and I may even have a glass of bramble whilst watching 'The Fall'!
