Deliveries

Nigel always brings us the day's supermarket discards with a big smile on his face.
The extra image shows another of today's donations: the infant class brought us their harvest festival collection and stayed for a snack, all togged out in high-viz jerkins for the short walk from the school.

Our surplus food cafe has recently been informed that the building, which we occupy free of charge courtesy of the Co-op supermarket, is due for demolition if and when a new road scheme becomes a reality. It's been suggested that alternative premises would be provided but unless they too are rent-free we would not be able to afford to carry on. We don't make any profit and indeed can't break even without extra cash in the form of grants and awards.  Apropos of which we've just heard that we have been selected as a runner-up (in Wales) for the Best Ethical Restaurant Award 2016 by the Observer Food Monthly (see here). Alas there's no cash in it, only kudos.
