HMS Valiant

13.0C and dry with a thin layer of cloud. Bright enough but little direct sun. Light ESE/E/SE breeze.

After lunch Maeve the Deerhound and I went for a walk. Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham on the Clip (The Best Of). We went round by Aqualibrium and past the old quay. A little busier in the harbour today. Convoys of lorries with wood were arriving and BBS Surf is being loaded almost as fast as they arrived.

We went past the harbour and the ferry terminal and along the shore path in the long narrow park then on out almost to the cemetery. A funeral procession past as we were in the park. There were a lot of cars. It was the funeral of the husband of one of the ladies who works in one of the Pharmacies. I know because Apothecary7 told me both shops were closing for an hour today so staff could attend at least the service in the church along the road.

We came back along the park again and went out on the old quay to get a better look at a boat I noticed as we were coming back along. It turned out to be a Border Force boat, HMS Valiant. I tried to get a photo from up close but neither of the ones I took were good.

To try for a better photo we walked round the esplanade and went out on the old pier near the yacht club. At least the angle was better from there. The light was not favourable. Once I had a few pictures we wandered back across the park by Aqualibrium and came home.

Afternoon music ... Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham, The Ruby. Runrig, Mara. Nazareth, The Singles.
