Feeding frenzy

I've never tried taking a photo of birds in flight - certainly not seagulls - and I didn't set out to do so today, when my main focus of interest was on my grandsons, not least because they were our responsibility for the afternoon. But when we emerged after lunch we found them feeding the swans and the predatory gulls at the mouth of the River Almond and now that I look at the photos I took I find the gulls in flight rather pleasing.

We had an adventurous afternoon: we followed this moment by walking out to Cramond Island, returning as the tide began to race back over the sand. No grandchildren were lost ...
