Around The Farm

Hello Blipfriends!
Dolly reporting today! Ships Ahoy!!

Actually, I WASN'T too happy about having to sit in this boat! Mum and her ideas!! She was afraid that we might not have a good picture for our blip today so she insisted. Grrr...

We walked a little further around the farm this afternoon as Mum's ankle felt better (though it protested later!). This is actually now a chicken farm and there are 250,000 chickens being raised here. The water in the lake is fed from the roofs of the chicken houses. There are now lots of carp in the lake and some of the guests here enjoy fishing while they're here. The sheep we showed earlier in the week are a hobby for the farmer.

So...we mentioned at the beginning that the hut where we are staying is obviously not a REAL Shepherd's Hut, which would be much smaller. We found out that the 2 huts on site started their lives as farm trailers. The one we are in has been owned and used by the farmer for decades. He decided to convert it into a living space for the grandchildren to stay in when they visited. And then friends said he should rent it out for holidays. He and his partner decided to give it a try and in the spring of 2015 they started receiving guests. It's been so popular he bought another 2 trailers and they are just finishing up the 2nd hut. He doesn't intend to do a third - he only bought 2 more as they came as a pair. So this is the one remaining. He says he wasn't particularly trying to mimic a 'Shepherd's Hut'. It's probably the roof that makes it look that way. He said that was just the best option for a roof. Well, Shepherd's Hut or not, we have had a very good week here. Cosy and warm, a pretty and quiet place to get lots of rest.

Mum? Can we come back soon?
