The Maddies

Guarding the entrance to Lochmaddy harbour are two stacks called the Maddies. This is the southernmost of them.
Today David N wanted to take his boat back from near disaster on the Lochmaddy pontoons to his house. The near disaster was close to a wipe out by the island ferry when it ploughed into an island about four weeks ago adjacent to the pontoons.
The cruise down the est coast is always impressive and gives one a different perspective on the isles.Today's disaster was holing the tender on the pontoon and so getting ashore was more problematic than hitherto, even to the extent of me paddling knee deep in the Atlantic.
A meeting in the evening about a potential St Kilda visitors' centre followed by a first Autumnal visit to the Westford Inn. Still a pleasant place to sup a pint or two.
