Harvest Festival

The allotment has given forth much fruit this season and it's a learning curve to ensure it is used and not wasted. The internet is a good resource for recipes so today's glut of pears and apples was combined with cherries out of the freezer for a yummy compote which will be a good excuse to pick up some posh vanilla ice cream! The remainder of the cooking apples have been stewed ready for apple pies whilst the ongoing black currants were whizzed up and sieved in to coulis for my breakfast porridge! Meanwhile Tony cooked up the last of the beetroot and I added some to tonight's lasagne for an extra twist. Love fresh, home produced food.
