Cue for a song?

"Running on empty."
We set off, down country, destination Cheshire For Oaks for a few days in "The Wagon".
Got on the road, glanced at the Fuel Gauge, cried BUGGER!, mad a few calculations.
Can we make it to the Services?
If we ran out of juice before we reached Westmorland Services - do more modern diesels still require the air bled out before they'll function? etc.
Decided to come off and trundle into Shap. Pumps looked a bit ill, went inside - "Bait time" the gang of four were seated in a corner having their Butties. Apparently it still repairs etc. but no retail and no offer of a cupful of "Weasel" to get us down the road.
Where's the nearest?"
Morland - Out in "The Wilds of Wanny."
We knew where Penrith was and we knew there was a better chance of traffic passing on the A 6 than a wee back road.
Result 1 - tootle back to the great metrolopse and fill up.
Result 2. - sufficiently late that we dropped into Westmorland services rather than one lower down, or Barton Grange Garden centre as I'd kinda hoped. I thought the Tractor more photogenic than the Gang of four.
The extra is the view from our table in Westmorland services.
