What did I see today...?

Edfest Day Two: Ref!

Pictured here is one Benny B in his street show (I think he had a stand-up gig as well) demonstrating the way Italians juggle - get the Ref!

After a leisurely start to proceedings the Fringe kicked off in style for us today. After a deserved lie-in all round we headed up to Deacon's House Cafe for breakfast (officially now our breakfast venue of choice after two years of devoted nomming!) and then down the Royal Mile to explore the free Fringe. We saw 'Domestic Science' and 'Rom-Com-Con' at the Canon's Gait and enjoyed both thoroughly, the free festival certainly has some gems (and balloons!).

We then wandered up the Mile again, that was where Mark and I caught a bit of Benny B's juggling, and then onto the Gilded Balloon to see 'Morgan & West: Clockwork Miracles' - they're two Victorian magicians I've seen every year since they arrived at the Fringe (and we swapped fliers!) and they just get better every time - they were sold out most of the days we were there!

After that it was into the George Street Square 'Old Town' run by the Assembly venues for dinner and beer in the "pringles"(named for the covers over the bars) before we headed off to the theatre to see Mark Watson's latest show - for which he crammed himself into a box for 30 minutes because he didn't realise he'd sold out! An enjoyable hour later we wandered off to the pub for some dinner and drinks, then it was back to the BBC gardens for 'BBC Comedy Presents' which turned out to be the musical edition - some great acts (including Rob Turner and The Axis of Awesome).

So, pick of the day... probably 'Morgan & West', but honourable mentions to 'Rom-Com-Con' and 'Domestic Science'!
