Lunch in the shadow of the clock tower

Which dates to 1864 and who's bells are the sisters of those in Big Ben. Not a lot of people know that and even less care but it is an interesting fact and we are all guilty at times of ignoring the history that is on our doorstep. Less easy to ignore in Darlington is the brick train, a monument recognising Darlington's place in railway history, i.e. The terminus of the Stockton to Darlington railway, the worlds first passenger rail service. I bet it was late, leaves on the line probably. Speaking of leaves, the wise councillors of Darlington have planted trees beside some of the major roads and then painted cycle tracks beside the kerb so that in the autumn you have a carpet of damp slippery leaves to cycle on - wonderful. That's what you call town planning!

Slow progress with the jigsaw but i haven't given up yet.
