crow, bathing

The crow is enjoying a bath in the Ulwell Stream, a small river running through North Swanage, at the point where the stream meets the beach.

While on the subject of biodiversity, last night's "Autumnwatch" TV programme, filmed in Arne, gave a somewhat erroneous account of the habits of Sika deer.  For the record, they can be very gregarious, I have many times seen herds of forty and more.  (Nothing like the maximum groups of five or so mentioned by the presenters last night.)  The filming does take place on RSBP land - Royal Society for the Protection of Birds - but that is no excuse for the misleading commentary.
