Persistent Pansy!

Did you ever hear a song that went I'm a lonely little petunia in an onion patch?

Boy was I surprised today when Son pointed to this single little Pansy growing in the most undesirable place! I have a Scottie shaped terra cotta planter that I place in the corner of the porch. Last year, I (kind of unsuccessfully) planted Pansies in that little planter but they just did not do well at all. I think the Pansies were too large for the planter.

Apparently, one of the flowers dropped seeds below onto the ground and this little plant came up...all on its own! I never would have guessed that anything as beautiful as a Pansy would grow in "gravel"!

What a pleasant surprise!
