Tilty Abbey...

Last day at The J's for this week, and another busy one.

Tilty is a small village on the back road between Thaxted and Dunmow, not much there now, a few houses and farms and a number of WWII pillboxes that were part of the GHQ Line.

It was much more important in Medieval days and there was a large Cistercian Abbey founded in 1153 by Maurice FitzGeoffrey. 

Not much of it left now...
