Dawn seen from the ferry at Yarmouth, IOW

We got up soon after 6am as we were booked on the first ferry of the morning taking us from Yarmouth to Lymington. The forecast was for fog but there only seemed to be low clouds whilst we queued for the boat. Once onboard I went onto the deck to watch our departure and was treated to the beautiful yellow light of the dawn rising over the island. Within four hundred yards after leaving the harbour we were in thick fog and the boat slowed to a crawl.  By the time we'd crossed the Solent the fog had reduced to a mist and cleared completely.

We had a good breakfast and strong coffee at the local Waitrose and were on the road again by 9am to wander slowly through the pretty country of the New Forest. I like its unusual features of alternating wide open spaces and thick woods, with horses roaming freely. I wished we had more time to explore and look at the wonderfully coloured trees. Sadly my camera began to declare 'Error' messages and then stopped completely, which was a trifle concerning.

We then headed home directly as we had an appointment to attend Fred and Di's wedding. I only went to the reception so had a bit of time for a bath before driving to the Museum in Stratford Park, where the newly created visitor education centre was being used as the venue for the reception.

I had seen the building as it neared completion earlier in the year, but hadn't seen the transformation of the former walled garden of the original manor house. It looked fabulous especially with the late afternoon sunlight which bathed the park.

I was absolutely cream-crackered and not much good at chatting. I did get to hear Helena reading a poem before we headed home finally to crash out once and for all.

My 'Extra photo' is of the just married couple in the walled garden. They have been married before and between have eleven grandchildren who were all there wit countless others.
