Signals

This is Chatley Heath Semaphore Tower near Ockham in Surrey. In days gone by the Admiralty could transfer signals at six words per minute from London to Portsmouth via a series of these; it was as good as it got in the 19th Century.

Things have changed now; you can be reading this blip and seeing the picture in Australia within a couple of seconds of my posting it in the UK. However something hasn't changed and that's communication between individuals. It remains as rewarding, complex and unreliable as ever. One thing however aids the high speed transmission of feelings and thoughts between two people and that is lurv ... As for the rest of the day before we got to enjoy our summer evening walk, it was post jet lag stuff with the added spice of a visit from the RSPCA to see if we were fit people to take on the custody of two new kittens. We passed the test mainly because Fat boy sat on the Girl Racer's lap and looked happy throughout, convincing them that we were indeed animal welfare supremos. So we will shortly have felines by the name of Dylan and Scout adding to the mess and furball emporium that is our house.

Also managed a shopping trip for stress busting essentials and lunch in Pret a Manger, our revamped local town centre's best view of the world. Now watching National Treasure just to remind ourselves of the glories of Washington.

I want to live in America.
