Springburn Castle

More properly known as Balgray Tower or the Breeze Tower.

Dating back to around 1820, the tower was named after it's original owner, the tea baron Captain Breeze.

The gothic villa has a 60ft tower, accessed by a 50-step spiral staircase.

When originally built it was in open land but its now in a built up residential area and surrounded by local authority houses.

Its difficult to get a good angle on it. I think the best view would be from Springburn Bowling Club so I may try that sometime.

Its currently occupied by a family. If you have ambitions to ever live in a castle this one is a lot more affordable than most due to the location. Keep an eye out for it coming on the market.
