and cabbages.  We saw no kings though!  Katkatkat was coming down from Edinburgh to be able  to accompany me to the annual meeting of our narrowboat syndicate.  Clickychick was unable to attend due to her confusing dates and booking a fair.

Katkatkat's train was due to arrive in Carlisle at 6:00 ish so rather than drive up to Carlisle just to pick her up we decided to visit one of our favourite garden centres while there.  They are usually good for a blip.

Today it was the ornamental cabbage which caught the eye.  I have never grown them but being brassicas they (and ornamental kale) are edible but said to have a strong and bitter taste.
