Down the Up Staircase

All the shots inside the auditorium were out of focus, so you have to take my word for it: we saw a splendid concert version of the Barber of Seville this afternoon, put on by our local symphony. The fabulous singers were from the Met and the San Francisco Opera, and our local orchestra was extraordinary. The performers had such stage presence that I did not miss the costumes or sets at all. I'm in awe of people who can produce such powerful sounds from bodies that are more or less just like mine. Wouldn't it be thrilling to be able to stand up and sing?!
