Race day - Helvellyn

The rain continued most of the night, I think, but it was dry in the morning and when we got to Glenridding there were sunny intervals - which revealed the fresh snow on the hills.
It stayed dry and the gusty breeze wasn't too much of a problem as the route was in 2 valleys and not too much exposure - we didn't have to go to the top of Helvellyn though we did have to climb about 385m. There were a few sections where the path was more eroded than last year, due to the winter floods, but I was pleased my time was actually a bit more than half a minute faster. Mr Rat was 1st in his age category again.
Nice relaxing evening in our cottage.
