On Westport Beach

(or ... A Hat and Fingerless Gloves, it must be freezing!)

7.5C starting dry and fairly dull. Low cloud. Rain from late morning. Light SE/SSE breeze increasing to moderate through the afternoon..

Apothecary7's day off.

About 10 am we went to Westport beach with Maeve the Deerhound and had a long walk towards Machrihanish. There was only one other person on the beach, and since they were leaving as we arrived we had the whole expanse of beach to ourselves. It was fairly cold out in the breeze. What little light there was lit up the waves as they broke near the shore and ran up the sand. We have found that on most days it is better to photograph the waves at an angle to catch them looking their best. Straight on they rarely look as good unless they have a good height to them as they come in to break. By the time we made our way back along to the car we could no longer see down to the Mull of Kintyre and the headland at Machrihanish was beginning to fade as the distinct pattern of clouds gave way to a more solid greyness.

We drove up to Glenbarr for Earl Grey tea/Cappuccino and cranberry slice. The rain arrived.

Lunch was a little late.

Later Apothecary7 was painting.

Afternoon music ... Van Morrison, Keep Me Singing. Blue Rose Code, ...And Lo! The Bird is on the Wing.
