King John
A life-sized bronze statue was unveiled on 12th October in King's Lynn town centre. The 12th October is 800 years to the day that King John was visiting the area with his treasure of gold and precious jewels on carts. For some reason they were at the shoreline, and the tide led to the loss of the royal treasure. The story goes that the party intended to travel to Lincoln via a short cut across the Wash, it might have existed at the time but not now.
