Canada Lynx ...

... from a PBS TV program on cats, another in their excellent Nature series. The Canada Lynx is one of the oldest species of cats.  It is well adapted to life at high altitudes (over 3,500 meters), with a short tail and padded paws enabling it to walk, run or bound across the surface of deep snow.

Much of the day was spent in front of the TV: Hillary Clinton's excellent, poignant concession speech, and an equally good talk by Obama. It's hard to grasp fully what happened in the election; so many ominous developments seem possible, probable--or even certain, notably a conservative appointment to the Supreme Court, filling Scalia's vacancy, which could keep the court conservative for decades more.  Time will tell.
