Awards Ceremony

5th November 2016:

Mary decided to recognise and reward the girls who worked hard and achieved high marks in their Junior Cert Exams, in the presence of all the students in the Centre for Learning. This is or was a state exam sat after two years in Secondary. Sadly it has now been abolished by the President, pronouncing that it was costing to much money.
Exams are an incentive to pupils and teachers especially in Malawi, where they are badly paid, if at all, have little respect and I expect the scenario to provide an even worse education system than we have already.
After that little ranting interlude, we will do our very best for our 174 little ones in our care.
This girl got best in her school, is a total nuisance in the best possible way, in her attempts to become a Journalist. She laughs a lot too and can appear in the Centre at any time when not in school.
