November

I wasn't really looking forward to coming back from Ethiopia to 55˚N, to the damp and murk of winter. But November has surprised me so far - there have been blue skies and sunshine and the leaves on the trees are still such beautiful colours (and so many of them). We have had a supermoon and some lovely starry skies. Last night and this morning there was a light frost and I got the deicer out for the first time this year.

And all the good things - squashes and soups and the wood burning stove and rediscovering my woolly socks and gloves and scarves.

"The thinnest yellow light of November is more warming and exhilarating than any wine they tell of.
The mite which November contributes becomes equal in value to the bounty of July."
-   Henry David Thoreau
