Rusty, sunshine, and long shadows.

Rusty is our present adventure, staying with us for ten days, encouraging us to get out (even) more, and teaching us about life with a dog. If you are a dog owner this is probably no big deal but I last owned a dog when I was around 12 years old, and Jan has never owned a dog.
We've been around other people's dogs, cats, sheep, and goats a fair bit so we aren't total novices and so far (36 hours in) it has gone well and everyone seems happy.
The day was generally grey but the sunshine was there for a few minutes. Thanks to Rusty I was outside when it came :-)
The long shadows are part of winter this far north. If you don't come from here you'd probably think this was an early morning photo, but it was taken just as the sun reached its highest point, the solar noon. As you can see, despite this, the sun is very low in the sky. As we approach mid-winter the sun's high point will be even lower, and the days shorter.
