An Akubra.

The trade name Akubra came into being in 1912 but the history goes back to Tasmania in the early 1870s when Benjamin Dunkerley set up a hat business in Hobart.
He invented a machine that removed 'the hair tip from rabbit fur, leaving the softer under-fur for use in the making of  fur felt hats' and what came to be known as the 'Akubra' was born.
 
Our family has an Akubra.
It has been on school  camps, travelled on a gap year but as I write this I can't think where it might be!
Perhaps time for the next generation to have an Akubra.
