The Edge of the Wold

Sunset in the Bay

This is the first time this season that I have seen the sun set in Morecambe Bay.  There always has to be a heron, and with it there are a few other species of birds that are not easy to identify as little distant blobs in the photograph.  A gull, yes - but which one?  A few redshanks feeding at the water edges.  Some ducks bobbing on the water: if they were wigeon, I didn't hear their whistles.

For the next month or more, I am not working on Fridays, and today was a cold, frosty, cloudless day - just perfect for a day off and a few gentle walks with Gus.
