The Edge of the Wold

Two suns

After an afternoon out with Wifie, Gus and I rushed up Arnside Knott to see the sun set in the Bay.  Apologies to Seascapes that the silhouetted dog is not Gus. Gus has become more difficult to photograph over the years, the sight of the camera tells him he's in for a long wait, and he lies down rather than sits up.

As it happened this second ascent of the Knott of the day was a bit much for both of us.  Gus aggravated an old injury and spent the evening afterwards lying next to the wood stove being tended by Wifie - his admirers will be relieved to hear he's much better today.  As for me, I was very weary on the walk home despite the fact that it's almost downhill all the way - the shortage of red corpuscles is quite noticeable at times.

It was worth it though to see the view from the Knott top, as a sheet of cloud was being pulled westwards across the sky leaving the sinking sun to cause the mudflats to glow against the darkening sky above.
