Arnside Pier

After the railway viaduct was built in the 1850s small trading boats could no longer get up to Milnthorpe. So a stone pier was built at Arnside where boats could still tie up at high tide.

In the 1980s the pier was severely damaged by a storm and had to be largely rebuilt.

Last winter more storm damage took place and the Parish Council is finding funds for repairs.
It is a very popular place to sit with fish and chips watching the sun set.
