In The Flow

I appear to be in the flow at the moment as far as planning is concerned. Staying at West Witton, we spent the day exploring Wensleydale and, by chance, found the streams and rivers awash with meltwater from the snow of the previous week. It was therefore a day of waterfalls, perfect for the mostly overcast and gentle weather.

We started with Aysgarth Falls and finished with Hardraw Force, both well known destinations, but in between we discovered the best of them all, a number of  more intimate but dramatic cascades on Whitfield Gill, flowing down to Askrigg. I never knew of the existence of these before.

We planned a walk based purely on the map and it offered a bit of everything. Most of the shots I took today were taken at very fast shutter speeds, trying to freeze the motion of the water, but this was obviously taken at as slow a speed as I dare, just for a bit of fun. Who needs a tripod and neutral density filters? !!
