Little Skirtful of Stones

Frosty conditions gave a little lift to these stones that I've had my eye on for a while.

Folklore says that the giant, Rombald, was in trouble with his other half and, when he stepped over to Almscliff Crags from here (visible as a little blip on the horizon (he had really long legs)), his giant wife dropped the small bundle of stones she was carrying in her apron.  I'd say her skirt wasn't exactly little; the cairn is huge!

It's actually a Bronze Age tomb but looks more like a miniature volcano.

And what a gorgeous walk it was too!
