Looking at Art

Fiona was in good spirits when we picked her up today so we thought we’d try the Henry again this week and see the Chuck Close photo show (last week she threw up before we got in).  Only… alas, Nanna didn’t seem to have her sketchbook in her purse as usual so we had to borrow a paper and clipboard from the Henry desk.   Fun.  Many little drawings on it.  There were a lot of large poloiroid photos ,some daguerreotypes,  a few (not enuf) paintings and some amazing tapestries of portraits.   Fiona said when she sees art she wants to DO art.  (some of us can relate to that, right)  but not always.   Today however she’s planning how to do a portrait of herself, following a collage of Chuck Close’s in the show. (in the extras) so that’s what we did.  printed one photo on decent paper, one of thin paper to cut up and make the patterns to cut out of colored paper ..  then we put the patterns on a colored paper too for  a different look.   As if that wasn’t enugh, she saw I had bought a gingerbread kit from Trader Joes’’’ so we had to make it too (the easy way..it’s all baked) but she was more interested in recycling the triangle box into a christmas board game that she worked on.  Non stop chatter and instructions for us for the game.  “Fiona do you ever just quit and take a 10 minute rest?  “Not really” she says.  Well, H is taking her home and I”ll be ready for a rest momentarily!      will try to add some portrait extras...Afterward she was very sorry she hadn't smiled that toothless sale for this photo...

Her sister texted us to make sure we weren't decorating the christmas tree without her!    Hadn't given it any thought yet...OH my do I have to do that soon?  I wouldn't dream of it unless I have their excellent help.
