Quod oculus meus videt

After the weekend............

This is the site before me on visiting the V Festival in the grounds of Weston Park today. This is by no means the worst view I could have photographed but does demonstrate the contradiction between the Capability Brown designed parkland and what the festival goers leave for others to collect. In some locations it is not possible to see the grass (mud) underneath the tents.

To give credit to the organisers of the festival a literal army of people descend after the event to clear it of the debris and detritus produced by three nights of camping by 75,000 people. Many tents are collected by the local rotary club to benefit others. I just wonder why people abandon their belongings in such an inconsiderate way. Surely this is an ultimate demonstration of the so called "throw-away" society.

We should also remember that someone died at the festival this year. It has had a profound impact on those involved in the organisation and running of the festival who work so hard to make the weekend enjoyable and safe.
