Community Bike Ride

Early this morning, after just a single cup of coffee rather than my usual three, I headed to the basketball court in town for a first ever community bike ride. I have participated in various rides in the United States, but was unsure what to expect here in Mexico. A couple hundred bikers were gathered in the square when I arrived, most of them dressed in matching t-shirts which volunteers were handing out in front of our recently painted mural. A few announcements, some warmup exercises, and we were soon on our way around the 6.2 km course. This shot was taken at the half-way point/snack spot next to the bus station. The fast riders were already chowing down on bananas and oranges, while the slower ones were still coming up the road. After everyone regrouped, we were off again to finish the ride and get more snacks.
