Quod oculus meus videt

Trees and Fog

I've always considered myself lucky that for the last 28 years I have worked in a small village on the edge of the West Midlands.  The offices have their own car parking, which is free, and the commute takes me through attractive countryside.

The offices have never been busier, despite the reduction in the council workforce in recent years.  As parts of the building have been vacated we have rented the offices out to other public bodies and now even private businesses.  It is a true community facility with a cafe, restaurant, library and access to most public services.

One of the knock on effects of the new tenants is that the car park has never been fuller.  There are times when it is difficult to find a space.  We've already cleared some planting areas to create more spaces and even then more needs to be done.  These trees, which act as a screen to a railway line that runs to the rear of the offices may have to go in due course.  They have been a source of quite a few blips over the years, and this morning I quickly grabbed this abstract in the early morning fog.

In other news, Mom was better today.  Still weak, but she has had an assessment of her swallowing and is now, at long last, able to eat some food.  They still require it to be pureed and any drinks have to be thickened.  It was quite chastening for me to help her eat this afternoon, just like you would a very young child.  Still it was good to see a smile on her face, especially when she had some ice cream!
