Street of Lights, Edinburgh

I know there have been loads of better shots of this on Blipfoto, but this was the best I could do tonight in the rain and the crowds:-)  Also very hard to get a full length shot because off the temporary pub booths erected just in front and behind it!  In spite of the rain in our eyes, TJ and I enjoyed the 15 minute light show to accompany the Edinburgh Festival Chorus (recording only!)

We also visited the Christmas Market in Princes Street, which seems to have grown out of all proportion this year and many stalls are not in the least Christmassy.

To enjoy a bit of peace and quiet after all the hubbub, we popped in to the National Art Gallery on the Mound to view "The Goldfinch", a tiny painting that is creating a fuss far beyond its size due to its being the star of Donna Tartt's novel.  It really is charming and we liked the added touch of recordings of goldfinches which could be heard loudly outside the Gallery:-)

A very long day and we were so glad we had gone by bus from Perth, as the journey home through mist and rain was quite unpleasant.  A few extras of the day included!
