Divine Design

"Profanity is treating as meaningless that which is freighted with meaning. Treating as common that which is hallowed. Regarding as a mere triviality what is really a divine design. Profanity is failure to see the inner mystery." (Elisabeth Elliot)

Took Manuel and his wife, Alda, to Mourão today, to eat lunch at the Adega Velha, and to look at the bit of land we're looking at. All day I kept thinking - this is my blip - and then we went down to the Lake, and this stupendous sunset, which kept changing every minute, and I knew then that this was it - only one second of it, but hope you get a feel for the inner mystery of a show like this, laid on just to give us joy.

And then we drove across the Lake to Monsaraz, and watched fireworks over Mourão, with the castle all lit up for the holiday.
