Silly people

Dad's 70th birthday present was only 1 year, and two months late.  A Reb Letter Day, A day aht in t’ Yorkshire Dales.  I did say I couldn't promise no clag, 'n' clag we got!  How we managed that in between the stunning weather we've had across five available seasons, I'm not quite sure but it was a day full of atmosphere and enjoyment.

It was those extensive views into the depths of the mist that drove us onwards.  There's lots of silly people up on the tops today we were told.  How she knew I'm not quite sure because she wasn't daft enough to go up there.  And she added, you're about to become two more of them.  A lovely lady she was, with a good-natured dry sense of humour.

Of course, I hoped for the clouds parting on the summit but the forecast was adamant about fog.  We were, however, in for some remarkable luck.  On the way down there did seem to be some brightness in the sky.  Or was it just that we were dropping out of the really thick stuff?  No, the Reb Letter Magic came into force.  In the space of a few minutes, there was beautiful sunlight touching the hillsides, a rainbow and the zero percent chance of blue sky stretching out in front of us for the last track home.

We chatted, we walked, we enjoyed the views (and lack of them).
We shared time together.

Special days.
