4th December 2016:

Early in this semester, Mary and myself spoke to two classes with their Lecturer, Leslie Schumaker who is a true force of nature and unlike any other academic I have ever met. She has been an wonderful link between Malawi, ourselves and the students for years now, a link which is invaluable to us in Wells for Zoe.
It is so apparent that she loves her students and they her. Tortures them but still loves them!
We spoke about our project for the Girl Child and how girls were deprived any real chance in education.
The response was phemonenal and the funding will enable us to keep about a quarter of our 184 girls in secondary school for the year. Keeping them may look simple but this will keep them from early marriage and early pregnancy at maybe as young as 14.
But now it looks, its not just that, like academic performance is improving with our Saturday classes, 7 great teachers and a bit of food, and who knows what can be achieved.
What I do know about the efforts of Leslie and the guys that lives of little girls will be changed now and forever.
So thank you all for your kindness, madness and caring.
Looking closely at the picture you might notice the source of the madness, vital in the world we live in.  Sane people rarely achieve much.
With me there is always the bottom line which does not relate to amounts of money, but instead relates to what can be achieved with money when 100% of it avoids the sticky hands of the AID BUSINESS and gets to a project
We are enabling 184 girls to attend and remain in Secondary school. Thanks to the caring generosity of all this crew about a quarter of these girls are now sorted for the next year.
That is impressive.
The fact that you all had fun is impressive.
The fact that when you are asked in your job interview, what you did in your spare time? You wont be boring and Your answer will also be impressive.
A small amount of torture is good for us, Ha, Ha
