Is planning a democratic process?

Tonight Mark Ruskell, Green MSP chaired a community meeting in Bridge of Allan organized by Planning Democracy, a lobbying group campaigning for a change in the legislation, which aims to establish level playing fields between the developers and the community.

At present the law is heavily biased in favour of the developer. (As we have discovered with our own campaign Park of Keir, especially when it has a Trojan horse in the shape of Judy Murray fronting what is basically a housing development. Her tennis centre could go anywhere in Scotland.)

One community group said they paid £2,000 for a bat survey and Stirling Council ignored it , going instead with their own ecology survey, which said they had found no bats.

We all face  a "David and Goliath" battle - developers with deep pockets versus the community.
