Facts About Holly.

The berries are slightly toxic to humans but an important food source for birds. In Heraldry, holly symbolizes Truth. The Druids believed the holly leaves offered protection against evil spirits and wore it in their hair. It was offered to the god Saturn by the Romans. Christians adorned their doors with holly to prevent persecution and to stop evil demons entering. There are two types of holly, She Holly with smoother leaves which makes it more feminine and He Holly which is prickly and rougher. An interesting fact for the Harry Potter fans, his wand is made from the wood from holly.  So glad I made the most of the nice weather yesterday as it is now grey and cloudy and  this holly was the brightest thing I saw today.
