Overwhelmed

Not a brilliant flower shot. Hand-held low lighting but snapped as a symbol of an amazing day.

Encouraging The Bro-in-Law to make his first trip into town without his wife, I went with him to Sainsbury's, the shop they always used. While he was shopping he told one of the assistants that his wife had just died and before we had got through the checkout he was presented with a bunch of flowers by a tearful lady.

We went into the cafe, just as he and Alice would have done last week. He stopped to talk to other regulars who were obviously offering their condolences. Then I said to the lady behind the counter that kanyl had a new minder this week as his wife had died.

WELL! She was out from behind the counter, wet-eyed to give kanyl a hug. Then the lady left dealing with another customer's latte asked what was wrong, then the lady out of the kitchen asked what was going on.

All the staff were soon out in front of the counter telling kanyl how sorry they were. It didn't end there. They had a whip round and gave him a gift card to spend on his next meal.

An overwhelming experience! This was one of the flowers.
