Advent Crown

The third Sunday in Advent so three of the four candles lit.

About 30 years ago our local church introduced us to the use of an Advent Crown in their morning services and our children, because there weren't many children in church and because they sat at the front, used to get chosen to go out and light a candle.

We liked the idea so much we made a smaller version of it for our own dining table. It has hanging wire when it isn't on the table. The reasoning behind it is:-

Greenery to represent the earth.
Red ribbons (hanging below the candles): the blood of Jesus.
White candle: the Light of The World, to be lit on Christmas day.

The Man made the wooden frame and I used to make a garland of Chamaecyparis branches and stick in tall candles. We are now onto the second of our artificial garlands and I prefer this one with the pots and stubby candles. Much safer than the precariously mounted tall ones!

Enjoy the coming of Christmas. Concentrate on the sharing of love with your messages not the chores you feel lumbered with!
