A Little Girl Harvestman

This young harvestman sits on the curry flower buds, along with the praying mantis nymphs and the juvenile lynx spiders, all hoping that a meal will happen by. Although an arachnid the harvestman does not have a waist as spiders do, and their two eyes are very small. You can see one of them in this shot. It’s the black speck on the little lump on her head. New Zealand has a number of native harvestmen, but this one is a European import.
