The Peace Star in Norway

The star is a 45 meter high landmark outside Oslo Airport made by the Outside of Oslo Airport stands the brilliant star, beautiful unlit and lit.  Today I prepared a shot before it was lit and shining because I liked the sky better at sunset than in darkness.

It is made by the Norwegian artist Vebjørn Sand (b. 1966).  The star is based on a design of Johannes Kepler and the inspiration for the monument came from his trip to Queen Maud Land during an expedition in Antarctica in 1996.

The star is also called the Peace Star since it was used during the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony for Doctors Without Borders in 1999.
