Snowy Day

Snow, like confetti, blows sideways in a ticking breeze.
On the asphalt gone white, the susurration of occasional cars.
A few souls hurry home in the fading light.
Inside, a kettle whistles on the stove, and the furnace hums.
Hope's alive and night's about to fall.
