Carnation Deconstructed

There was scarcely a bloom to be seen at the garden centre this morning so this afternoon I decided to use one of our cut flowers for a still life. I had a vague notion about deconstructing the bloom so I cut it in half and tried to strewn the unattached petals in a pleasing arrangement. As you might guess this was a lot harder than it looks as petals would knock others out of the way, turn upside down at the slightest touch. In the end I resorted to using a micro screwdriver to position them. The actual photographing of the shot was child's play by comparison.
