Christmas Fireplace Abstract

This is a case of Xmas decorations running wild in my mind. This is, in fact, the rather nicely decorated fireplace of one of our neighbours which had a nice fire burning when we first arrived and would have made nice image its own right. However I photographed it when we were leaving four hours later by which time the fire had gone out so it looked a little sad. I thought I would brighten it up by this wild display of superimposed decorations. The hardest bit to do was getting the baubles to overhand the smaller layers.

We live at the end of a cul-de-sac in which there are four lots of neighbours who are all very friendly and every year one of the neighbours takes it in turn to do a Christmas lunch for everybody. It's a really nice tradition that was well established before we even moved here ten years ago. It's a great way to keep up with the neighbours and of course the local gossip and its always a very relaxed social get-together which we all enjoy. Living so close together there are no alcohol restrictions so you can put down this Xmas Decor flight of fancy to over-indulgence.
